It is a mystery where Mystery came from. Last
winter I kept trying to catch the smaller cats (kittens I thought) to get inside. I had the fear it was too cold for their size. I had been trying to get Shorty all winter.
One morning I was able to sneak up on "Shorty" and toss him inside. I knew Shorty was male. I had seen his equipment so there was no
doubt of his being a male. So I never checked the status of the small cat/kitten I had just bought inside. Then came the weight gain, and it wasn't long before I realized that this
was not Shorty.
This poor kitty grew as round as she was long and I worried about her. I made sure she had extra food and treats. And when she had 4 beautiful kittens, I worried that she would not be able to feed all four. And for 2 weeks
she did a wonderful job. Then I noticed that she was losing a lot of weight and decided to step in. I made a nice little kitten cave for her and her kittens in the TV room where we spend most of our time and she watched as I bottle fed the kittens and put
them back. As I returned them to her she made sure to give them a complete bath. And she was given treats. (She liked this treat thing)
And a joint custody agreement was formed. I would give each kitten
some bottle feeding and she would finish filling them up. If I failed to wake at the right time, she would make sure to wake me up. This went on every 2 hours round the clock until the kittens started eating canned food and using the litter box. When they
were 8 weeks olds I took them to Church to be blessed. And they were blessed with wonderful forever homes before the first hymn was finished. But Mystery was not finished taking care of kittens. The day before I took the kittens to Church I had found 12 very
young kittens over the course of the day. Mystery stepped in and between the two of us, we were able to raise them up. I found 6 more home with Church members who missed out on the chance to adopt the first group and 6 went into a Rescue group. Mystery is
now finished with kittens. September 12th she is scheduled to be spayed and her work will be done for good. And she still has not grown, she looks the size of a 4-5-month-old kitten. But she has the heart of a giant.
